1&1 web hosting offers four different web hosting plans to meet your web hosting requirements. From a business web hosting plan that can support most small businesses to a home web hosting plan that can meet your personal website needs, 1&1 has a web hosting service that will work for you.
Web Hosting Plans Available.
1&1 offers four different web hosting plans: Beginner, Home, Business, and Developer. The Business hosting plan is most likely to meet the needs of the general website-building population. It has ample storage and data transfer space, supports most popular programming languages, enables e-commerce with SSL certificates, allows you to set up cron jobs, provides 50 MySQL databases, and more. We recommend the Business web site hosting plan for anyone looking to start a business web site.
Technical Specifications
1&1 web hosting plans range from 10 GB (Beginner plan) to 300 GB (Developer plan) of disk space and 300 GB (Beginner plan) to 3000 GB (Developer plan) of data transfer monthly, more than enough to meet most users’ needs. A variety of website building tools are available with all plans, including:
- * 1&1 website builder
- * 1&1 photo gallery
- * DynamicSiteCreator (with Flash)
- * Dynamic content tools
- * Click-n-Build applications
PHP3, PHP4, and PHP5 are available with all services, and every service except the Beginner level also lets you program with Perl and Python. 10 to 100 MySQL databases also available.
Media Support and Add-Ons
Differentiate your site from all the others using 1&1’s site enhancement tools including software suites to help you add unique, interactive, and informative content to your site. Software suites include the following helpful applications and tools:

E-Commerce & Marketing Options
Build a shopping cart for secure ordering (protected by SSL), and use tons of complimentary credits to Microsoft adCenter, GoogleAdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing, Citysearch, and more to get the word out about your awesome new website. You’ll be getting tons of traffic in no time!
Support
1&1 support is solid, but not always the fastest or most helpful in the business. Once you get your site up and running, though, all should go smoothly for some time! If you have the knowledge to build a site, you should experience few problems. If you have little experience, you may want to enlist some technical help to aid you in getting the best support from 1&1 and the most out of your hosting!

Hello angry people:
My experience has been pretty good, but I am only using them for their registrar service. Well - I recently added email, but it’s too early to make a call on that one, albeit the webmail is down today.
Many of these mega-sized outfits excel at the basics - registration, dns, etc. Some of them have a hard time with hosting. I cannot really say anything about the hosting with 1and1 (don’t have an account with them), but I have discovered that the mega-outfits often provide mostly shared hosting accounts.
Anyone who has serious web hosting needs should probably choose something other that a shared hosting account. (By shared, I mean that perhaps dozens, or hundreds, of customers use the same Apache server (or whatever server), using it’s “virtual server” capability.
The security details are very difficult in such a situation, and one bad apple can bring down the whole cart. If you’re in need of a serious web hosting environment, you should consider dedicated or “virtual dedicated” hosting. I’m not really sure if 1and1 provides such a thing, but if they do, it might very well be a better and more viable options than shared.
A note to the page creators (of this page) You should provide a means by which the various ratings can be set to “n/a”. (For people like me, who have never needed to have any customer support interaction, etc)
- Regards,
Fairly happy customer
1and1’s telephone technical support is excellent. It’s fast, good, and patient. You get the answer you need when you need it. Great price too.
Worked with a client with 1and1 as a
web developer. Was astounded by poor
quality of tech support. The gentlemen on the
phone had terrible english and little IT
knowledge. Turned to email to try to resolve
my issue, which had to do with importing RSS
feeds. Spent over a month going back and
forth with zero progress. With each message
on the same email thread a different
representative picks up your case and often
will ask you for your customer information
again and case history despite them assigning
my case an ID number. Just avoid these guys
and hopefully they’ll fade away.
I\’ve recommended all my website customers to 1and1.com, and NONE of them have ever complained! Not once!! (about 48 customers so far).
I also use their domain and hosting service with ZERO complaints.
Their support team answers the phone within 1 to 3 minutes and
has always assisted in a consistent manner.
(Yahoo Internet Support will put you on hold for 30 to 45 minutes
ever single time…it\’s simply insanity to waste that much time.)
My site has NEVER been
down. They has an easy to use interface for the FTP connection and
also setting up email. Lowest prices in the nation too!!
Well said
After reading all the bad comments about the customer support I dreading calling. But they have been great! I ordered a package that wouldn’t meet my needs so I wanted to upgrade to the next tier while maintaining the sale price. I got someone based in American on the phone right away, they where easy to understand and very knowledgeable. They even transferred my to tech support, which I’m guessing was not in America, and he was great too.
I am very happy with 1and1
